Privacy
Last updated: 21 September 2026
There is one thing on this website that collects anything about you, and it is the email box. This page says what happens to what you type into it.
It is written to be read rather than to be legally survivable, because a privacy notice nobody reads protects nobody. If anything here is unclear, support@powdium.app and a person will answer.
Who this is
Powdium is made by James Morris, a sole developer in the United Kingdom, and it is me rather than a company that decides what happens to your data. In the law's language I am the data controller, which matters mainly because it tells you who to argue with: there is no department, and nobody else to be passed to.
Write to support@powdium.app about anything on this page. It reaches me.
What the website collects
Your email address, if you type it in. Nothing else, and nothing at all if you do not.
When you submit the form I store three things: the address, the date and time, and the IP address the request came from. The IP is kept because it is the only practical way to tell a person from a script filling the form a thousand times, and it is deleted with everything else.
There are no analytics on this site. No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no Hotjar, no heatmaps, no A/B testing tool. Nobody is counting your scroll depth.
There are no cookies. Not "no advertising cookies" — none at all. This is why the site has no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.
Nothing is loaded from anybody else's server. The fonts, the images and the scripts all come from powdium.app. That matters more than it sounds: a page that pulls a font from a third party hands that third party your IP address and the page you were reading, whether they asked for it or not.
The web server keeps ordinary access logs, as every web server does. Those are the hosting company's, they are kept briefly, and I do not analyse them.
What I do with your address
One email, when the app launches. That is the entire purpose. Not a newsletter, not a countdown series, not "we thought you'd like to know".
I do not share it with anyone. Not sold, not rented, not passed to an advertising platform, not used to build a lookalike audience. The list is not loaded into Mailchimp or anything like it — it is a file on the server that hosts this website.
I delete it after the launch email has gone out. The list has done its job at that point. If you want to be removed before then, say so at support@powdium.app and it is done the same week.
Where it is kept
On the server that hosts powdium.app, run by my hosting provider in the United Kingdom. It is not copied to a marketing service, an analytics service or a data warehouse, because none of those things exist here.
If Powdium is ever sold, the list is not part of the sale. It gets deleted first. A mailing list changing owner is one of the more common ways people end up receiving mail they never agreed to, and the terms of this one do not allow it.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. For this website that amounts to one email address and the date you gave it to me.
Write to support@powdium.app. No form to fill in, no account to create, no identity verification theatre for a mailing list.
If you think I have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
The app
Powdium has not launched. When it does it will record where you ski, which is a great deal more personal than an email address, and it will have its own privacy notice written with the same care as this one.
Two things are already decided and are not going to change:
- Photos you take are private to you. No other account can read them. That is enforced by the database, not by a setting somebody could get wrong.
- Nothing about you appears on a public board unless you switch it on. Your day counts towards the resort's figures either way, with nothing attached to it. Putting your username and profile picture on the resort ladder is a separate choice, off until you make it, and you can undo it.
- Under-18s cannot make that choice at all. Not a default they can change — it is not offered. A public board carrying a child's picture, username and resort is not something I am willing to build.
- Your real name never goes on a public board, only the username you picked. There is no way to put contact details on one.
- I will measure which adverts brought people here, and only if you say yes. iOS asks you once, in the standard system box, and the answer is no until you tap the other one. Nothing is sent before you answer and nothing is sent if you decline. What gets sent is that a step happened — an account was made, a party was joined, a clip was posted, a pass was bought and for how much. Not where you rode, not how far, not how fast, not when. Those are not on the list because there is nowhere in the code to put them.
- Under-18s are never included in that, whatever they tap. Same rule as the public board, same reason, and it is checked before the consent is, so a yes cannot get past it.
Changes
If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. There is no version history yet because there has only ever been one version.
